GoutGuru ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and services.
Information We Collect
Personal Information:
- Email address (for account creation)
- Display name (optional)
Health Data:
- Food intake and meal logs
- Purine consumption data
- Gout flare records (severity, affected joints, duration)
- Water intake tracking
- Medication logs
Technical Data:
- App and device information needed for security, compatibility, and support
- Service logs and diagnostics used to maintain reliability
How We Use Your Information
- Provide the account, synchronization, and records you request
- Show descriptive summaries and trends from records you choose to log
- Create a meal estimate only when you request photo or text analysis
- Send notifications and reminders (with your consent)
- Improve our services and develop new features
- Provide customer support
- Process subscription payments
Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect your data:
- All data is encrypted in transit using TLS/SSL
- Data is stored securely on encrypted servers
- We use secure authentication through Supabase
- Access to production data is limited to authorized purposes
- On iOS, credentials use Keychain storage and cached records use file protection
Data Sharing & Third Parties
We do not sell your personal or health data. We may share data only with:
- Account and hosting providers: Supabase and the infrastructure providers used to authenticate, host, and synchronize the service
- Subscriptions: RevenueCat and the applicable app store process product and entitlement status; we do not receive your full card details from Apple or Google
- Optional meal analysis: OpenAI or Google may process the photo or description you deliberately submit for an estimate
- Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights
We do not use health records or meal photos for third-party advertising.
Retention & Account Deletion
We retain account-linked records while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. You can initiate permanent account deletion in Profile. We delete associated records unless a limited record must be kept for legal, fraud-prevention, dispute, or security obligations. Encrypted backups may age out under provider backup schedules rather than disappearing immediately.
App Store or Google Play billing is controlled separately by the store and may continue until you cancel it in your store account.
Your Rights & Data Control
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of your personal data
- Export: Download the records currently loaded in the app from Profile without a paid subscription, or contact us for a full account copy
- Correction: Update or correct your information
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all data
- Notification control: Disable local reminders in the app or system settings

Children's Privacy
GoutGuru is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
